It’s important for residents and business owners alike to file adequately detailed plans and the proper applications for construction projects in the city. While the process may seem time consuming to some, the City is required to follow procedures outlined in the Commonwealth’s Uniform Construction Code. The net effect is that we have safer built environments, with residential dwellings and businesses that are more likely to pass the test of time. Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing Single Trades Application COMMERCIAL PROJECTS A public/private partnership with third-party inspectors allows the City to provide more flexible and convenient scheduling of inspections. Electrical inspections for residential projects are conducted by ABI inspectors. All inspections are by appointment, unless work without a permit on-site is discovered. Plumbing work must be performed by a Master Plumber, licensed by the City. Home Improvement contractors are not required to be licensed by the City, but must be registered with the Commonwealth through the Attorney General’s web site. City staff in the Code Compliance Office at City Hall will be glad to answer any questions you may have regarding the permitting and inspection processes. If you are unsure if you need a building permit to undertake improvements to your property call the Code Compliance Office at 291-4724. It is best to first assume that improvements you are contemplating will require a building permit and inspections. Content Last Modified on 6/11/2010 2:18:58 PM |
